How shrill, how accurately shrill

Oh dear, there goes that damn Krugman being all accurate again on the GOP:

Now, we don’t know who will win next year’s presidential election. But the odds are that one of these years the world’s greatest nation will find itself ruled by a party that is aggressively anti-science, indeed anti-knowledge. And, in a time of severe challenges — environmental, economic, and more — that’s a terrifying prospect.

I see that Krughthulu is making the same mistake about Huntsman that everyone else is: That he is running for president in 2012. Huntsman is paddling about in the water alright but it's not this wave he's going for. Too many kooks are in the water. He's going for 2016 and it doesn't hurt him at all to draw their irrational fire at this time.

How do you think I feel? I spent two years of my life writing a book about this stuff and it's only gotten worse. I should have kept my big yap shut.

Well it is really not that hard to be accurate about the past while pretending it is the future.

Let's break this down.

we don’t know who will win next year’s presidential election. Sure we do. Either Obama or a right wing crank. If Obama wins the groovy rules of the US Senate will prevent anything good being done, and if the crank wins it'll be like GWB all over again.

But the odds are that one of these years the world’s greatest nation will find itself ruled by a party that is aggressively anti-science, indeed anti-knowledge. And, in a time of severe challenges — environmental, economic, and more Yeah, been there done that. Remember George W. Bush the mediocre student and failed business man who after being elected governor of Texas and doing nothing was selected by the SCOTUS to lead us to deadly attacks, illegal and pointless war and then preside over the worst global economic downturn in 3 generations? Oh, and let's not forget the torture loving treasonous VP allowed to run things.

— that’s a terrifying prospect. Welcome to the world I've lived in for 30 plus years.
